Residents of Athens woke up to a heavy blanket of snow on Tuesday morning (February 16),

According to Reuters, the snowfall, the heaviest in to hit Greece in 12 years, triggered power outages and caused travel disruption.

Greater Athens region is experiencing heavy snow that has blanketed the area. The snowfall is expected to continue on Tuesday. People are asked to avoid non-essential travels and moves, and to comply with Covid 19 restrictions during the ongoing 2-week lockdown period.
