A fawn that was found struggling in a river was brought into a wildlife sanctuary in Canada.

A group had found the baby deer crying for help as it struggled to pass through a river in Minden, Ontario.

Several hours after the rescue the fawn was found again wandering down a road and it was adjudged to be weak and hungry.

It was then brought into Woodlands Wildlife Sanctuary where she was named Ivy.

Monika Melichar, a wildlife rehabilitator at the sanctuary, said: "The fawn, Ivy, grew up with all our other fawns and was released to be wild and free again the following spring. She always had a soft spot for her buddy, Indy, the fawn and they were released together and stayed together.

"People love this video because of how terrified and lonely Ivy was initially and then when she was rescued, she was happy, grateful to her caregivers and thrived. We love Ivy so much!"

This footage was filmed in May 2019.
