A musician from Devon in the UK organised an elaborate fake treasure hunt to surprise his girlfriend with a marriage proposal.

Bert Miller buried an engagement ring and a bottle of champagne in a back garden lawn in Exeter and then told his girlfriend to come outside because his metal detector had found something.

"I had buried the ring a week before so the ground didn’t look tampered with," said Miller.

He then dug up the champagne and the ring and popped the question to his astonished partner, Hayley.

Miller's whole family were part of the surprise and helped to capture the full occasion on camera.

This video was filmed by Jill Miller for her son Bert Miller, 33 who is a musician from Devon. Mr Miller told Ark Media that his plan was to surprise his girlfriend Hayley, 25 by telling her " to come outside because the metal detector was reading that there was gold in our garden." Adding "I had buried the ring a week before so the ground didn’t look tampered with."

Bert's whole family were apart of the surprise and helped to capture the full occasion on camera. During the proposal Hayley was so shocked that it took her a moment to process what had happened.

Mr Miller. also told Ark Media that him and Hayley first "met whilst both travelling in Australia and we have now been together for 5 years!"
