A group of self-convened citizens laid flowers in front of the Uruguayan Presidency building under the slogan "Enough of preventable deaths." After a very successful first year of the Pandemic, Uruguay has significantly worsened its situation during 2021, topping the list of countries with the most deaths per million inhabitants. Although the Government has been carrying out a successful vaccination campaign, the numbers of the pandemic are at their worst and the Government refuses to decree a quarantine. What has lead to harsh criticism from vast sectors of society for not taking sufficient measures to prevent the deaths that already number in the thousands.
