An amusing video has emerged from the US of a cat leaping over a dog to play ‘fetch’.

In the footage, captured in a home in Richmond, Texas earlier this month, the owner of the animals can be seen throwing a toy for the black and white cat, which leaps over a resting dog to retrieve it.

“Our cat "Gato" is fond of fetching... he has a little toy that he is able to grasp in his mouth and when you throw it - he runs, picks it up in his mouth and brings it back. We have an older dog that actually allows the cat to jump over her when Gato runs! Too funny! After a while, the dog gets irritated with the cat and moves away,” the filmer later wrote online.
