This little duck named Elway has formed an unlikely friendship with a bunch of dogs after being rescued.

Elway was rescued from Maine, US, after he was part of a group of ducklings that were dumped.

Lindsay Shafer works at a veterinary hospital in Connecticut and filmed a series of videos of the duck forming a strong bond with her dogs.

She said: "Elway LOVES his dog pack. We have a full flock of ducks but he chooses to interact more with the dogs, for whatever reason. So we let him. He lives inside at night just like they do. And he spends his days in or out, wherever we are.

"He’s a unique guy! He loves to play with dog toys, and play with the dogs. He loves treat time, just like them. And we even take him on field trips to the pet store, etc with them.

"He’s a social duck who loves to be the centre of attention. He turns lots of heads wherever he goes!

Shafer goes on to explain what having ducks as pets is like: "Owning ducks is a blast! But you have to know what you’re getting into. They are a lot of work and require the proper setup. They can be messy. Probably messier than people think.

"They have great individual personalities and when raised in a friendly hands-on environment, they can be amazing pets! They’re a lot of work! Make sure you do your research before taking the plunge.

"You want to have the correct ratio of males to females and you want to make sure you have a safe setup for them so they don’t get taken by predators.

"Unless your name is Elway, they really prefer to live in flocks. And they grow FAST! Take lots of pictures because within a matter of weeks they are full grown!"
