This footage was filmed and produced 24 September 2021.
Tens of thousands of climate activists take to the street today, on September 24, all over the world. The activists will be part of a global climate strike in more than 1,000 communities around the world, Fridays for Future.
In Mexico City, the youth demands to President Lopez Obrador to assume what has been promised in the Paris Agreement. Different organizations got together in front of the Palace of Government to demand changes and to expose the climate emergency.
Translation:
[0:47-1:24] – The government must fulfill its promise to reduce the footprint of predator capitalism, but society must assume the responsibility to change this way of consumerism that is leading us to a catastrophe. The energetic problem is a problem of structural inequality, and meanwhile, the world governments don't fulfill their Ambiental duties, the indigenous populations around the world are the guardians of 80% of the biodiversity.
[1:24-1:36] – For the right to the water. For the right to the forest. For the right to the rivers.
[2:33-3:13] – Mexico – realize: Pemex does not love you. Mexico – realize: Pemex does not love you. Mexico – realize: Pemex does not love you. Friend – realize: Pemex does not love you. Workers of Pemex – realize: Pemex does not love you. Mexican population – realize: Pemex does not love you. Mexicans – realize: Pemex does not love you. Workers of Pemex – realize: Pemex does not love you.
[3:57-4:29] – We propose a change, especially in the North, learning from indigenous communities that through the 'good living' or 'communality have found ways to thrive with sustainability, without hierarchy. At a local level, we demand to the Mexican governments to change their obsession with fossil fuels.
