Amusing footage shows wild lioness 'coughing up hairball' in South Africa
Footage from Kgalagadi National Park, South Africa, appears to show a lioness struggling to cough up a hairball.
Visuals recorded on September 30 show the female lion bobbing its head back and forth as it appears to wheeze.
The filmer told Newsflare: "We have never seen lions behaving just like cats., this was a first for us. The sound the lion makes almost makes you think she is in quite some pain."
According to National Geographic, it is not common for lions to cough up hairballs. Lions and other big cats use their voice boxes to make contact calls which may be mistaken for coughing noises.
