Monica was found in a Plastunovskaya, Russia, abandoned with all her paws cut off.

A resident took the injured dog to vet Yulia Kikot who fought to keep the pooch alive in intensive care.

The vets gave her a blood transfusion and formed her legs into stumps.

Monica was then taken to Novosibirsk clinic and the orthopaedic surgeon had to come up with a new design that would withstand the weight of the dog.

Protheses were 3D printed in Tomsk but the first set did not fit and Monica even cracked a bone.

Surgeon Sergei Gorshkov said: "The first dentures did not fit, the dog even cracked a bone! It turned out that due to an error in the tomography, we printed too large paws. As a result - new calculations and new prostheses."

A furious dog in the village of Plastunovskaya near Krasnodar was found by a local resident Irina on December 1 last year. The flayers, whom the police never found, cut off all her legs. Bones protruded instead. For two weeks the dog lay in the snow and slowly died. Veterinarian Yulia Kikot and her colleagues from the Na Babushkina clinic fought around the clock for Monica's life in intensive care, doctors gave her a blood transfusion, then formed stumps instead of legs. The dog got better. By that time, many animal rights activists of Krasnodar already knew Monica's story. And people thought how they could help the mongrel. Then Marina contacted the Novosibirsk clinic "Best", which has already become famous for being the first in the world to implant four prostheses instead of paws in a cat. What if you can put a dog on such? But the weight of the cat and the dog was very different. Therefore, the orthopedic surgeon had to solve a difficult problem and come up with an essentially new design that would withstand the weight of the animal. In addition, by nature, Monica had crooked paws, like a dachshund, which also had to be taken into account.

- Monica came to us 2 months ago, and we began to develop prostheses for her. It was difficult, but still it was possible to calculate and make a design that would be optimal for this animal. In Tomsk, the prostheses were printed on a 3D printer, and Monika went to the operation. However, the first dentures did not fit, the dog even cracked a bone!
