Pontoon destroys bridge over river as it is washed away during Storm Franklin in Leeds, UK
A pontoon was washed down a river in Leeds by flooding caused by Storm Franklin on Sunday 20 February.
The floating platform, which originally had heavy machinery sat on top of it, caused damage to one footbridge as it was ripped from its moorings and sent downstream, and then completely destroyed a second bridge across the river, as seen in this video.
This scsne was captured by Andrew Tutin, owner of The Climbing Lab in Leeds. It shows the pontoon floating down the River Aire, crashing into and destroying the small bridge, in Armley in the west of Leeds.
