A cat in San Diego, California, seems charmingly confused about what species he is -- or just very much likes fetching items for his owner.

Ed the eight-year-old cat loves to play the game his owner calls 'Puppy' -- familiar to dog owners everywhere as 'fetch' -- in which she calls out the name of a cute soft toy called Puppy and Ed fetches it in his mouth, to then drop it down to his owner on the floor below.

The friendly feline is eight years old, but came to his owners as a 10-day-old rescue cat.

He has had Puppy the soft toy ever since that time and he is very attached to it.

Every day, he likes to take Puppy up the stairs to the floor above, from where, after a bit of coaxing, he tosses the toy back to his owner on the floor below.

Our cat Ed loves to play "puppy". Ed, 8 years old currently, came to us as a rescue at just 10 days of age. His puppy that he plays with has been with him since he was 10 days old and he is very attached to it. He takes puppy to our second floor open hallway stair rails and grabs puppy when we toss him up and drops him back down to us with some coaxing. He does this daily and he is always very vocal.
