Dog trainer and loyal pup perfect incredible 'trustfall' stunt thanks to strong bond between them
A performing pooch has taken the world by storm with a brand new trick – falling backwards into the arms of her owner.
Border collie Tesla has perfected the stunning trust-fall with Alexandra Côté, 26, following years of training and friendship.
Impressive images and video capture the daring dog perched on the edge of a 4ft high block before she blindly pushes herself backwards with no doubt she will be there to catch her.
The loyal pup was adopted by Alexandra before appearing with her on America’s Got Talent last year where they wowed judges including Simon Cowell with a skipping rope routine.
But the pair’s latest stunt has taken their bond to a new level, much to the delight of their 14,000 Instagram followers.
One fan said: “It’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen a dog do. You can feel the trust Tesla must have for Alexandra and just goes to show how strong their bond must be.
“You really can teach an old dog new tricks!”
Alexandra began training dogs when she was a child and found the skill helped her to overcome crippling shyness.
Her first dog Guizmo helped her to open up, before she adopted Tesla in 2018.
"Tesla is my dream dog, we have an amazing bond. She is my greatest source of comfort,” said Alexandra.
"We have a lot of fun doing all kinds of activities together, such as walking, swimming, dog sports, shows and competitions. Tesla loves to snuggle up to me and trusts me completely.
"I didn't really need to teach her to fall into my arms, it was something she already did naturally. I only had to reinforce it. We have incredible trust in each other.
"The most important thing is that the dog waits for the command to fall, to avoid injury.”
Alexandra and Tesla's incredible bond has seen them become stars of the dog world and the pair perform all across Canada.
Alexandra, from Quebec, Canada, said: “I'm living a dream. I opened my small canine training centre and I have a lot of clients.
"I also do more shows with my dogs in Quebec by myself and I am also part of two teams (Canine Stars and Superdogs) that do dog shows all over America."
"I never gave up and he became a great dog. I was a shy person and thanks to Guizmo, I overcame the shyness to show people that we can have a good relationship with our dog and accomplish beautiful things.
"I did my first show at the age of 17 and it took me out of my comfort zone, but I loved my experience. I continued to do several shows and I had more and more confidence in myself. I finally found something that I excel at and love!"
