A fire beacon will be lit in Queenborough harbour for the start of the celebrations on Thursday evening.

King Edward III named the town after his Queen - Philippa of Hainault - and conferred upon it the rights of a free borough. He granted the town a charter in 1366 and two years later bestowed the duties of a royal borough upon it.
