Police officers seized campaigners' speakers as new laws that restrict protests deemed too noisy came into force on Tuesday (June 28).

Several Metropolitan Police officers confiscated amplifying equipment from the anti-Brexit campaigners at Parliament Square, London.

The new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act allow the police to restrict protests that are deemed too noisy or disruptive.

The act also created a new offence of “intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance".
