Drone captures sea lion playing with humpback whales
STORYLINE
Stunning drone footage has emerged of a sea lion playing alongside a pair of humpback whales off the coast of Newport Beach, CA, US on Saturday.
The creature can be seen swimming alongside and in front of the pair of whales, apparently enjoying riding their pressure wave in the water.
The filmer wrote online: "Sea Lions and Dolphins have been known to ride the pressure wave created by the whale much like they do with a boat.
"Humpback Whales used to be a rare site off the coast of Southern California but recently they have been a very common site with many of them breaching completely out of the water."
