Firefighters pulled out a man and woman that were trapped in their flooded basement in Sochi, Russia, on July 23.

The house's basement on Gagarin Street became submerged as floods hit the city.

The residents could not open the door due to a powerful stream of water flowing into the basement.

Firefighters managed to open the door using a hydraulic tool. The couple were then tended to by doctors.

July 23 in Sochi, the basement on Gagarin Street was flooded. Inside, a man and a woman were blocked: they could not open the door, because a powerful stream of water crushed it.

At first it was even very hard to hear people, but we managed to break the ventilation grate and shout. It was impossible to open the door manually, so a hydraulic tool was used.

Rescuers were able to reach the victims and by the hands stretched them under water.

In parallel with this, special equipment pumped out water. After the rescue, the man and woman were handed over to doctors. According to one of the victims, they were very cold and were electrocuted.
