Candlelit vigil for the Urumqi fire victims, Sydney, Australia

November 2022. Up to about an estimated fifty people attended a vigil close to Sydney Town Hall, where candles were placed on the ground to read ‘Urumqi 11 24’ being the date of the deadly fire in a high-rise building in the Xinjiang capital of Urumqi, which killed 10 people and went viral on social media. It has been blamed on the draconian lockdown methods enforced by the CCP as some believe people could not escape the building as it had been locked down. Some people at the vigil held up blank sheets of paper in protest against CCP censorship.
