Seagull Rescue, Venice Beach

Buy video

Today, a seagull wandered up to me who had become badly tangled in some fishing line. Its beak was wrapped shut and the line disappeared down its throat. After coaxing it with some bread, we caught it and started to untangle the wire, only to notice a hook embedded in its leg and the line also tangled around its wing. Initially scared, the bird soon calmed, realizing we were only trying to help, and after 20 minutes of clipping wires and with the additional help of some caring neighbors, the bird was freed. When it was still in my arms it took its long awaited first sips of water, a magical moment I'll never forget, and it has since been drinking for hours in its chosen temporary home. Thanks to a few compassionate human beings and a solid display of teamwork, an animal's life was saved today, and we each played a part in its rescue. It's so nice to see people work together, and who respect and treat animals as our equal.

Oh, and to all the fisherman of this world... PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES!

Watch on to see the rescue of 'Bob' the seagull - an experience I'll never forget.

Music: 'Let Me Down Easy' by Max Frost who took part in the rescue.
