Afghan child overjoyed as woman buys all pens she is selling on streets to make living
A little Afghan girl named Zainab is caught in immense joy as a woman decides to buy all the pens she is selling on the streets of Kabul to make a living.
"If I bought them all, would you be happy?", asks Mahnaz, who filmed the video.
Zainab shows a big smile as the woman gives her more cash than she usually gets. Despite living in extreme poverty, the child points out that Mahnaz gave her too much money.
The clip captures the heartwarming moment the child happily walks away and jumps after receiving the money. She is told by a man to go home and give it to her mum.
According to Mahnaz, with the amount of money she received, the child "can buy basic groceries for her family for a month".
According to a recent report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 97% of Afghans live in poverty, two-thirds of the population need aid to survive, and 20 million people face acute hunger.
The video was filmed by Mahnaz Safi, an Afghan-American woman from the US state of Virginia who helps refugees in Afghanistan and Turkey. Mahnaz works on many fund-raising projects to support the poorest in Afghanistan, where she is known as “the girl who gives people money”.
