Guy's non-Muslim friends fast with him during Ramadan so he didn't have to go through it alone
A student at Lancaster University was joined by his non-Muslim friends as he fasted during Ramadan.
Zimran Malik lives with flatmates Ryan, 22, and Henry, 19, who both joined him as he fasted.
The filmer told Newsflare: "They offered to do the first few days of Ramadan and fast with me so I didn’t have to go through it alone and miss my family too much."
Malik added: "We stayed up till Sehri (5 am) and had our last breakfast before the fast started, we had a full English breakfast full of halal sausages and bacon which everyone found funny.
"They only kept the first couple of fasts; they did it as I conversed with them about how I found it hard last year alone at uni. At home, it’s a very communal experience.
"They had varying experiences with fasting. Ryan found it relatively easy as he was used to staying late for assignments and didn’t mind long periods without eating. Henry, however, found it very challenging; he enjoyed Sehri (breakfast before dawn) but found not having breakfast or lunch difficult.
"We have been friends for almost a year and a half, we met during our first year of university. I met Henry on my course and Ryan lived in the flat above mine last year. We recently began living together in October 2022.
