Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said Spain's La Liga has to deal with the racism problem suffered by Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr in a recent match against Valencia but that he wasn't optimistic about progress.

"They should [learn from the English Premier League]," Guardiola said at a press conference on Friday ahead of his side's final Premier League game of the season away at Brentford on Sunday.

"Here [in England] they are so strict. But they [La Liga] know what they have to do. Racism is everywhere. We are the same [people], with the same fears. Just try to accept diversity … still right now we are really far away from that. Hopefully that [incident] can be one step to getting better in Spain but I’m not really optimistic, knowing a little bit the country."
