Guests leave the National Portrait Gallery after evening Gala celebrating the art gallery re-opening
Glamorous guests are seen outside the National Portrait Gallery during an evening Gala celebrating its re-opening on Tuesday, 20 June. The Princess of Wales, Patron of the National Portrait Gallery, ceremonially reopened the NPG after a major three-year £35.5 million redevelopment. The art gallery will open again for the public on 22 June 2023 with spectacular programme of major exhibitions, showcasing photography, painting and drawing. These will include Yevonde: Life and Colour (22 June - 15 October), Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm (28 June - 1 October) and David Hockney: Drawing from Life (2 November 2023 - 21 January 2024), a celebrated exhibition that was previously cut short after 20 days, when the gallery was closed by the pandemic in 2020.
