A group of residents in Cape Strelka, western Russia, were amazed as they sailed right past a waterspout.

Footage from July 13 shows the weather phenomenon on the Kama River spiralling up several hundred feet into the air.

The unusual occurrence was attributed to the surface temperature of the water being several degrees higher than the air temperature, as reported by the Geographic Information Systems Center of Perm State University.
