Fixed Head Up Photography of the Right Stone Stele of Dacheng Hall in Chaotian Palace, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China
The Chaotian Palace is located in Shuiximen, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is the highest level, largest scale, and most complete preserved ancient architectural community of Ming and Qing dynasties in the Jiangnan region, known as the "First Scenic Spot of Jinling".Chaotian Palace entered the most glorious period of historical development in the Ming Dynasty. Since the 17th year of the Hongwu reign (1384), when Ming Taizu bestowed his name, the Chaotian Palace has always been a dedicated Taoist temple for the royal family. During the Chenghua period, the court conducted a large-scale renovation of the Chaotian Palace. After completion, university scholars and businessmen wrote the "Imperial Edict to Rebuild the Chaotian Palace Stele". The monument is nearly 6 meters high and consists of three parts: the head, body, and pedestal. The top of the monument is a relief cloud dragon, finely carved. The stele is adorned with serpentine dragon patterns on both sides. The pedestal of the stele is perched on its back, with its head raised in astonishment, and its form is vivid. The inscription, consisting of over 1000 words, records the positioning, scale, and the beginning and end of the renovation of the Chaotian Palace in the early Ming Dynasty. It is an important historical material for studying the evolution, regulation, and layout of the Chaotian Palace in the Ming Dynasty. The camera is fixed to capture the towering pedestal of the monument, and a close observation of the relief cloud dragon on the pedestal is made. The carving is delicate, with winding dragon patterns on both sides. The pedestal of the monument is towering, with its head raised and its eyes raised. The form is vivid, and ancient people would record historical events on the monument.
