Mother in Venice Beach captures the perfect blend of parenting and passion on wheels
On a sunny Wednesday (May 10) at the Venice Beach skate plaza in Los Angeles, California, filmer Bianca Avanti experienced a serendipitous moment she hadn't planned for. A roller-skating enthusiast since childhood, Avanti decided to introduce her 2-year-old daughter Anyiah and 9-month-old Nasiah to the world of wheels.
"I have been rollerskating with Anyiah since she was three months old. This day was a testament of just that. I had just bought Anyiah some roller skates and thought this was the right opportunity for her to try them out," Avanti said.
Despite juggling the demands of motherhood and recovering from her second C-section, Avanti found time for her passion by integrating her children into her skating routine. "It takes me maybe about four hours to prepare the girls and head to the beach," she revealed. On this day, Avanti intended to gather content for an event she was promoting.
Her skate mate J Maxeus happened to be present and offered to film her. "We took a break, ate snacks, changed diapers and prepared babies' milk. Then I geared up Anyiah to skate for the first time," she said. Much to Avanti's delight, Anyiah enjoyed the experience so much that she wanted to skate unassisted.
As they were packing up to leave after over two hours, Maxeus handed over the footage he had captured. "He then said 'oh yeah, I got some footage of you skating with your babies.' I was thankful because I rarely get that kind of footage," said Avanti. "I wasn't even supposed to be there that day, and the most amazing thing happened by us just showing up."
