Spring Rain During Christmas: 2015

Buy video

Video shots of spring rain in Frederick, MD during the afternoon of Christmas Day 2015. As most of the East coast of the U.S. is in the midst of a record early winter heatwave, a constant flow of moisture out of the Gulf of Mexico combined with repeated low pressure systems moving across the country from the Pacific, has created tropical like weather across most of the eastern United States. With highs in the mid 60s on Christmas, moderate to heavy rain fell across the Washington DC regeion. In Frederick, a plant has survived since July although it is not in bloom, worms escape the accumulating rain in the grass for drier land, and anything that has survived the freeze the prior weekend is still lush and green. Average high temps in DC for Christmas: 45 degrees. This is not what Maryland looks like during this part of winter.
