Construction work continued at the HS2 site in London's Euston on Wednesday 4 October, as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the connection from Old Oak Common to Euston will continue.

However, the British PM announced at the Conservative Party conference that he would cancel plans to extend the line north beyond Birmingham.

There had been suggestions that he might also cancel construction of the final part of the southern end of the line between Old Oak Common in Acton and Euston station in central London, but that will now continue.
