Stampede at UF Israel event: at least 5 students hospitalized after shooting scare
On October 9, 2023, at Turlington Plaza on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, USA, a UF Israel event took an unexpected turn when a shooting scare prompted a stampede among the attendees. The event, intended to show solidarity with Israel following recent attacks by Hamas, quickly devolved into chaos as at least 5 students were hospitalized with injuries. The panic ensued after shouts to call 911 for a student who had fainted, causing attendees to flee in fear. The aftermath, as captured in a video by @robnation_, depicted a scene of scattered personal belongings and a police presence as they conducted inquiries into the incident.
