Israeli forces and militias in southern Lebanon are continuing their exchange of fire, the Israeli army reported Friday after striking targets of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, which has yet to define whether it will join the war pitting the Islamist group Hamas against the Jewish state.

A group of militiamen "launched an anti-tank missile from Lebanon towards an IDF post adjacent to the community of Mattat", near the border, an IDF spokesman said, assuring that this incident left no injuries among its troops.

"Israeli soldiers responded with artillery fire towards the source of the launch," he added.

On Thursday night, Israeli forces attacked "a terrorist cell inside a Hezbollah compound, as well as infrastructure" of that group in Lebanon, the military spokesman said.

In addition, "a terrorist cell that attempted to launch anti-tank missiles from Lebanon into Israel in the Har Dov area was attacked by Israeli tanks," he said.
