Uganda police and aviation authorities executed the destruction of more than 56 kilograms of narcotic drugs valued at Shs 3 billions (Uganda shillings) in Kampala on Friday evening. These narcotics drugs comprised 42 kilograms of heroin, 6 kilograms of cocaine, and 7 kilograms of methamphetamine. They were confiscated at Entebbe International Airport between 2020 and 2023, and thorough investigations led to the conviction of the involved suspects. The disposal process was conducted in the presence of Chief Magistrate Amabilisi Stella Marisi of Entebbe Grade One Court, along with senior officers from Criminal Investigations Department, canine, and aviation police. Juliet Baguma, head of Criminal Investigation at the Aviation Police, said during the ceremony that since January 2020, the aviation police have arrested more than 30 drug offenders at the country's international airport, and all the suspects were convicted in court.
