There appears to be no respite coming anytime soon for the cold-hit region as severe weather conditions continue to disrupt daily routines. Many places in the region saw single-digit temperatures and dense fog in the January 18 morning hours.

Dense fog caused disruptions to air and rail traffic in the national capital, affecting over 50 flights and 18 trains. The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport experienced disruptions in flight operations due to low visibility, leading to the cancellation or rescheduling of flights. Trains faced delays of several hours, due to the thick fog affecting visibility.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that dense to very dense fog and Cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to continue to prevail over North India during the next 4 days. Severe cold wave conditions are likely to continue over the plains of Northwest India during the next 4 days. Poor visibility in the wake of fog also disrupted flight services, causing delays and cancellations. Passengers faced inconvenience at airports, with many stranded.
