Tropical Cyclone Kirrily made landfall on the north Queensland coast on Thursday night, January 25, bringing strong winds and rain. Kirrily intensified to category 3 as it approached the coast but quickly downgraded to category 1 by midnight after it moved inland.
The storm still left some damage to property, roads and thousands of homes without power.
