South Africa: Raging Wildfires Prompt Evacuation Of Western Cape Towns
An evacuation was ordered for all residents of Pringle Bay, a coastal village in Western Cape on Tuesday, January 30 as wildfires kept burning out of control. Some residents of nearby Betty's Bay were also evacuated on Monday.
The fires began on Monday, January 29, spread quickly fanned by strong winds. A number of buildings including a hotel was burned down.
The evacuation order was lifted on Tuesday night, but the fire remained out of control.
