CrossFit athlete manages to avoid injury despite head 'rebounding off floor' after falling off pullup bar
A lucky bloke incredibly avoided injury after falling from a pullup bar causing his head to ‘rebound off the floor’ during a CrossFit competition.
Kurt Pace was taking part in the Malta Functional Fitness Games on February 11 when he jumped up to the bar to try a manoeuvre called a pullover.
Crazy footage – which has been viewed almost 20 million times – shows the 27-year-old power himself up over the bar and flip upside down.
Kurt – who has done CrossFit for six years – then fell face first from the bar and plunged to the ground, but despite his head fitting the floor, he managed to walk away completely unscathed.
Kurt said: “Fortunately I had no injuries at all. I was actually surprised that I managed to go up and do most of the movement.
“Then I was shocked that I managed to go up and I think with the shock my hands slipped and ended up falling.
“My legs hit the floor first and then my hands did so I managed to not hit my face although my head rebounded.
“The pullover is new movement in CrossFit so for me this was a new challenge which I had never managed to do before.”
