Lionel Messi's hometown of Rosario is on high alert after a spate of crimes linked to drug trafficking. Four workers, including a taxi driver and a gas station attendant, were killed in violent attacks, sparking fear and outrage in the community.

In response to the escalation of violence, different sectors have decided to take forceful and precautionary measures. The Union Tranviarios Automotor (UTA) Rosario has extended its strike on the urban transport service to 96 hours without buses. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Service Stations and the Union of Service Station Workers have announced the night-time closure of fuel stations, in order to guarantee the safety of their workers.

The taxi sector has also been affected, with a strike that was lifted on Monday but with uncertainty as to how they will proceed with the situation. For its part, the health sector has ensured the continuity of the hospital guards, but the lack of transport has led to the closure of Health Centres.

In solidarity with the victims and their families, the Union of Collection and Sweeping has suspended the service, while the teachers' union Amsafe Rosario has confirmed the suspension of classes in public schools for this Monday.
