Heavy rains were recorded in the "sierra gaucha" and there were complications in several localities in the region.
Meanwhile, from the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre they are closely watching how these new rains will impact on a city hard hit by the recent floods.

Images have gone viral on social networks of the Centro de Serafina Correa area, a town located some 200 kilometres north of the state capital, in the mountains.

"The Paranhana river overflowed into some neighbourhoods and people were evacuated. We have shelters open and we are waiting for the rain to pass to lower the water," reported the Civil Defence of Tres Coroas.
According to the authorities in that region, some 127 mm of rain had fallen by 5pm. In other localities, such as Caxias do Sul, rainfall had reached almost 200 mm.

"Another concern we have is in relation to the streets that are flooded. Thinking about the protection of vehicles, we ask them not to drive on the streets if it is not necessary. For now we continue to monitor the rivers and streams, and any changes in this regard we will come here and tell you again," said firefighters in the area.
