Firefighters responded swiftly to a blaze that engulfed two houseboats moored at Fondamenta Renier in Murano, Venice, starting at 20:45 last night. The vessels, completely engulfed in flames, required extensive firefighting efforts.

Teams from the central station deployed two specialized firefighting boats and additional units from Mestre to the scene. By 2:00 am, firefighters had successfully extinguished the fire and completed cleanup operations.

The cause of the fire, which affected one electric-powered and one diesel-powered houseboat, remains under investigation. No injuries were reported, but the incident highlights the vulnerability of Venice's historic waterfront to such emergencies.
