Milwaukee, USA - July 26, 2024

The Milwaukee County Zoo is celebrating the arrival of a new prehensile-tailed porcupette, born on June 4 to proud parents Quinn and Seamus. The zoo announced the exciting news, inviting visitors to meet the adorable addition at the Nocturnal side of the Small Mammals building.

"It's a girl! Get ready to fall in love with our newest porcupette," the zoo shared in a statement, emphasizing the charm of the newborn.

Determining the sex of prehensile-tailed porcupines involves a unique method, as they do not have external organs. Instead, a quill is tested to accurately identify whether the porcupette is male or female.
