United States - August 07, 2024

Tropical Storm Debby was taking a break over the western Atlantic Ocean, but it wasn't done drenching the Carolinas' shores before slowly heading north.

The storm was expected to turn north Wednesday night toward the South Carolina coast for its second landfall, weather officials said Tuesday night. The storm threatened not only more rain, but tornadoes in coastal parts of the Carolinas and as far north as southeastern Virginia on Thursday.

The slow-moving storm inundated coastal towns in Georgia and South Carolina Monday night and Tuesday, spawned tornadoes and submerged streets in waist-deep water. The storm had already dumped more than a foot of rain in some places and could accumulate as much as 25 inches in some spots before it ends.
