Circus performer pulled 40 metres into the air during hot air balloon stunt
A circus performer’s epic stunt saw her pulled 40metres into the air while tied to a hot air balloon by her foot.
Louise Lenoble was rehearsing for a show called EXIT with Cirque Inextremiste in Chamonix, France, on August 14 as she started talking to a camera.
Incredible footage – which has been viewed more than 880,000 times – shows the performer suddenly being dragged by her right foot.
Louise was pulled up into the bag of the orange and white balloon as it lifted 40 metres off the ground while tied to two ropes.
Louise said: “The public’s main reactions are surprise and shock. It is made to look like an accident so some feel scared that something has gone wrong in the moment.
“It has been performed for many years hundreds of times in rehearsals and performances.
“I had never done the stunt before so was trying it for the first time. I went 40m high in the air as was planned.
“As professional extreme circus artists, we are accustomed to using the gear used for this stunt like ropes and carabiners.
“The stunt has been trained and refined in many conditions in the past to reach this level of precision.
“The ballon is fixed to the ground and descends by itself after roughly a minute.
“At the same time, I used a belay device to rappel down the rope to reach the ground before the basket does.”
The show EXIT will be performer next in Saint Dizier, France on September 14.
Cirque Inextremiste was founded in 1998 and the EXIT show was created in 2016.
