The video, filmed today, shows the large bird of prey relaxing in the alpine garden before taking off majestically, revealing its huge wing span.

The filmer later wrote online: "UBC Botanical Garden is a home to many birds and other wildlife; resident Bald Eagles bath regularly in this pond in the alpine garden just steps from my classroom.

"I was lucky enough to witness this at a very close range and capture it on film."
