United States - September 27, 2024

In a heart-stopping incident captured by their own dashcam, Alan and Kelly Keffer escaped a potentially deadly mudslide triggered by Hurricane Helene while driving through North Carolina's scenic Blue Ridge Mountains on September 27. The dramatic footage, which has since gone viral, shows the moment the mudslide slammed into the interstate near Old Fort, engulfing everything in its path.

The video, taken from both the front and rear of the Keffers' vehicle, paints a vivid picture of the chaos that unfolded. As the couple exclaimed in shock, "Whoa," the wall of mud and debris narrowly missed their car, though the vehicle did not escape unscathed. Reports confirm that while their car sustained damage, Alan and Kelly emerged from the ordeal physically unharmed but undoubtedly shaken.

This near-miss occurred as Hurricane Helene's remnants wreaked havoc across the region, leading to severe weather conditions including torrential rains and flash floods. In response to the mudslide, local officials were forced to close sections of the interstate, issuing warnings about the risk of further flooding and potential landslides.
