IJMUIDEN - Een grote brand heeft sportcentrum Villa Sportiva en café La Belle op de Zeeweg in IJmuiden in de nacht van zondag op maandag in de as gelegd. Eén persoon is met ernstige brandwonden naar het RKZ gebracht. Enkele tientallen cafébezoekers gingen meteen naar buiten. De melding kwam rond 01.50 uur binnen bij de brandweer. Er werden meerdere explosies gehoord door diverse getuigen.
Vrijwel direct was er sprake van een uitslaande brand aan de achterzijde. De brand is later overgeslagen naar het café. Om aan voldoende water te komen is een pomp in het Noordzeekanaal gelegd.
