Waterspout Forms Over Brisbane River
Occurred on November 1, 2024 / Queensland, Australia
Info from Licensor: "On Friday, November 1, 2024, I, Carolyn Schuler, stayed back late at work to wait for an afternoon storm cell to pass over Brisbane City when I noticed a tornado or waterspout forming in the Brisbane River about 3:50 pm local time. The river is our city’s major landmark and recreational hub. I had my phone nearby and just happened to have an excellent viewing position from my office desk window and was able to film the entire event unfold and capture the tornado as it started near a boat and came down the river towards me. I would not have been able to take such a long video if I was instead located perpendicular to its path of travel. I later found out that it did some significant damage to trees and infrastructure at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs where many people spend time enjoying the river."
