Lake Lure, United States - November 16, 2024 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is spearheading debris removal at Lake Lure, a key recovery effort following Hurricane Helene's devastation in western North Carolina. USACE is collaborating with FEMA and local agencies to clear flood debris across the region, including Asheville, Buncombe, Polk, and McDowell counties and the North Carolina Arboretum. Beyond debris removal, the Corps is addressing critical infrastructure needs by working with Asheville and Buncombe County to ensure access to safe drinking water amid the ongoing recovery.
