Pet cat swamped by water when fish tank suddenly explodes
This is the shocking moment a pet cat was swamped by water when a fish tank suddenly exploded.
The two-year-old Siamese cat crept toward the two-decades-old fish tank when it heard the sound of water spilling from the container in Khon Kaen, Thailand, on June 12.
CCTV footage shows the furry creature running away as the tank ruptured from underneath, flooding the living room.
Black circular decor pieces and leaves can be seen scattered on the floor.
The noise woke up the family, prompting a boy to rush into the room, only to find shattered glass and water on the floor.
The homeowner said: 'The fish tank had been in the family for over two decades and originally belonged to my father. Fortunately, we hadn't placed the new fish inside the tank.'
She speculated that the cause of the incident was internal air pressure after her dad added decorative leaves and refilled the tank with water for their new fish, following the passing of their beloved pet fish.
The cat reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
