Wellesley, United States - January 12, 2025 [Note: no sound] Ed Berger and his dog Tommy are safe after falling through the ice on January 12 while trying to rescue his dog from Lake Waban. Berger, accompanied by his other dog Oscar, was walking near the lake when Tommy ventured onto the ice and fell in. Trained as an EMT, Berger attempted to save Tommy by venturing onto the ice with a boat, but he too fell into the water. The rescue was caught on drone video as first responders arrived, pulling Berger and his 8-year-old cocker spaniel from the freezing water. Berger estimates he was in the water for 10 to 15 minutes, while Tommy was submerged for 25 to 30 minutes. Grateful for the rescue, Berger praised the first responders for their flawless execution, though he emphasized the importance of calling 911 and waiting for help in such situations.
