Releasing a Freshwater Amazon stingray!

Buy video

Here I am releasing a ocellated stingray, a freshwater species, in an ox bow lake in the Amazon rainforest. In the dry season, rays are concentrated in these lakes, whilst they wait for the wet season to come, and go back into the river. They have venomous barbs on Thier tails, and injured and even kill people each year. Local fisherman often cut their tails off with a machete when caught in their nets! This one I am releasing with it's tail intact! They're incredibly beautiful animals, but also potentially deadly! Watch out for that tail!
