US: State of Emergency Declared as Wind-Driven Brush Fires Scorch Long Island
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul issued a state of emergency on Saturday, March 8, as several wind-driven brush fires swept through swathes of Long Island and areas near Brooklyn. The fires burned hundreds of acres and injured two firefighters.
