Allianz Bank covered in red paint by pro-Palestine protestors
New footage shows the aftermath of pro-Palestine protestors occupying the Allianz building in London - and covering it in red paint.
Protestors "handcuffed themselves to scaffolding" above the door, onlookers said, and hurled red paint at the building today (March 10) on Gracechurch Street, London."
The protest group Palestinian Action have confirmed they organised the occupation - in response to 'Allianz's insuring of Elbit Systems, and Israel-based international military technology company and defense contractor'.
People holding Palestinian flags on the ground can be heard chanting: "Your buildings are covered in Palestinian blood." "
An onlooker, 24, came across the protest after hearing chants of: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."
He said: "I was just walking around London and I heard the Palestinian chants from a distance and began following it."
"Once I got there, then I saw the red paint all over the bank and there was a group that was protesting with flags and they had the speaker phones and they were making the chants. "
"It was the typical things you'd hear, like: ‘Free Palestine' and ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.'"
"There was a large police presence, maybe about 15 police officers, an ambulance, also a team working on getting the protestors off the scaffolding because they were handcuffed."
"Some members of the public were quite angry - one had to be shoved back by a police officer."
A spokesperson for Palestinian Action tweeted: "Despite the state's attempt to intimidate us, the movement is going from strength-to-strength."
"Allianz, cut your losses and cease ties with Israel's biggest weapons firm now."
